AlertGursha is an NGO dedicated to creating awareness of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) by building strong, supportive communities. Founded at Alert Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, we believe in the power of community to bring about change.
AlertGursha was born from a simple yet powerful act of compassion: a dinner for NTD patients at Alert Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Founded by Dr. Tsion Tesfa, our organization recognizes that “Gursha” - an Amharic word meaning the act of feeding someone with your own hand - represents the deep care and community connection at the heart of our mission.
What started as a single dinner has grown into a movement dedicated to raising awareness about Neglected Tropical Diseases and building communities that support, educate, and empower those affected.

To create awareness about Neglected Tropical Diseases and build supportive communities that empower patients, families, and healthcare workers through education, connection, and advocacy.
A world where Neglected Tropical Diseases are no longer neglected, where every patient has access to care, support, and a community that understands and advocates for their needs.
Regular gatherings that bring together NTD patients, families, and healthcare workers to share experiences, build connections, and create a supportive community network.
Workshops, seminars, and educational materials to raise awareness about NTDs, their prevention, treatment, and the importance of early detection.
Facilitated support groups where patients and families can share challenges, find resources, and receive emotional and practical support from others who understand their journey.
Working with healthcare institutions, policymakers, and international organizations to advocate for better resources, research, and care for NTD patients.
Through our community dinners and support programs, we've created a network of care and understanding. Patients who once felt isolated now have a community that supports them, families who felt alone now have resources and connections, and healthcare workers have a platform to share knowledge and best practices.
